13 rounds, not bad. What was last year? 20? something like that?
For how big of a dumpster fire 2020 is, I’ll take 13 races.....
![]() 07/24/2020 at 13:36 |

Exciting. Of course the year there’s three Italian races, Ferrari is completely pooping the bed.
![]() 07/24/2020 at 13:41 |

ill take 13...but im always up for more
course...way things are over here...i’d say everything is still kinda up in the air...not like we dont have rona anymore

Well, it’s back at the F1 track, not the Nordschl ei fe - a lthough you’d think it was being run around the actual ‘ ring they way they are waxing poetic about the ‘ legendary old-school classic ’. (That doesn’t exactly describe a track built in 1984 and hosted it’s last F1 race in 2013.)
I am glad it’s there, and I hope they do some promotional laps around the old course.

figures dunnit
good thing theres no spectators allowed...ferrari might not have survived the tiffosi

It would be nice to see them go old school and race at Watkins Glen. It’s in one of the only areas of the US that has the virus under control at the moment.
I know the Glen upgraded some of the safety stuff for Indy, I imagine not nearly enough for F1.
Montreal then the Glen? That would kind makes sense for a 10 day trip.
![]() 07/24/2020 at 13:50 |

id be up for that...the glen is a pretty awesome track

I remember enjoying the GPs at the Nurburgring, and who can forget that 2007 classic where Winkelhock led the race for a moment.
I don’t know much about Algarve or Imola but it’ll be cool to see modern F1 run those tracks. Mercedes will probably win everything anyway.
![]() 07/24/2020 at 13:54 |

I can’t wait for Imola, that place is nuts for F1.

I don’t think there is going to be much racing at the Glen this year. New York has a pretty strict rules about quarantine if you travel internationally or from a hot spot nationally that make it next to impossible for race teams.

welp as you mentioned it

i got so excited i almost forgot theres motogp on this weekend....lol

oh man. I didn’t think of that. if they kept up their futility, i bet you’d see them boo’d or worse. kind of shame we don’t get that satisfaction.

Ferrari’s worst season in decades, and t
hree races in Italy.

Word, pretty excited for Imola. I love that track in every sim I've seen it.

I think most venues on the calendar have the same restrictions....the F1 teams would be self-quarantining once they arrive, and won’t have any public interaction that is outside those guidelines.
My local PCA just had a DE event there last weekend, the track is open. It certainly would be open for an F1 event if they wanted it to be.

Both NASCAR and IMSA events sound like they aren’t happening this year. Which is a shame the 6 hour is one of my favorite races of the year.

The Six hours of the Glen was originally rescheduled for La bor Day weekend...have there been any additional updates? I hope if the ‘rona stays quiet in the northeast for the next few weeks they stick with the revised schedule.

My son told me that COTA is off the calendar, which is what I expected. Is the F1 circus crossing the Atlantic at all this year? I haven’t been paying attention to the (provisional) schedule.

All good....still unclear on the ‘sports events’ guidelines. IMSA may not have their full crew in a ‘bubble’ like some other groups, and Watkins certainly doesn’t have one hotel large enough to fit everyone.
Break out the RVs and tents! No one leaves the track!

As of now, no. But if they did, I think NY-Montreal would be a good back-to-back.
Based on the current C-19 hotspot map, that’s the best spot right now with two close tracks.
The Glen doesn’t meet F1 safety standards, but it’s not far off. It was repaved in 2015 and Indy ran there in 2016.
From the late, great Charlie Whiting in 2015:
“If there was a request to have a Grade 1 (Formula One) license here, I’m sure we could come up with a few things that might need to be modified slightly in order to achieve that,” Whiting said.
As for the lack of runoff room to meet Formula One standards in some turns, Whiting said, “I think we could make it work, if we had to.”
